Companies and competitiveness
The annual report about the economic competitiveness of Ticino allows to monitor many important aspects of the cantonal economy.
From a methodological point of view, the concept of competitiveness is investigated through Lengyel's pyramidal model. Thanks to this approach, it is possible to analyze the short, medium and long term cantonal economy's trends, using different indicators.
From the empirical point of view, the analysis of regional competitiveness is based on the inter-regional comparison. For this reason, the Observatory built a regional benchmarking system, comparing Ticino with other Swiss cantons.
